About the Provider
My name is Tinaya (tin-nah-yah) aka your “neighborHOOD Doula” from NYC. Bronx born and raised, I was introduced to the doula world in 2019 and fell in love with it in the spring of 2020. The action of being someone's primary "go to" person and being able to consistently provide emotional, physical, and educational support is what mainly connects to my life's purpose. As a doula, I aim to create sacred spaces where underrepresented families feel the most safe and comfortable to express their needs and desires with no limitations. These families include members of the Afro-American, Indigenous, LGBTQ, Disabled and other marginalized folks. With my personal research and experience, marginalized families as well as families located in the “HOOD” tend to receive the least assistance when it comes birth and post partum care. If it is provided, it is very much low quality work; very rushed, overlooked and overall dismantled. This has led to the high maternal mortality rates across the country within our very own community. My purpose as a community doula is to be apart of the decrease in these rates. My purpose, is to assist these families with recognizing their individual powers through their entire pregnancy including birth and after. Lastly, my purpose is to help prepare your mind, body, and soul for a healthy delivery. Together, we will use education and wellness activities to help prepare for your birth. Listening to what your body is telling you is top priority as well. I am your advocate! Team work, make the dream work. Let’s get it!
