My name is Shamire (pronounced sha-meer) and I am a birth and postpartum doula. My entry into birthwork unofficially began when I was a child, as I was always fascinated by where babies came from. My interest was reignited while I was in undergrad when I had to watch the documentary, The Business of Being Born, in 2013. It was then that I realized that I needed to be a doula. I wouldn't have the opportunity to train until I was obtaining my social work degree. Although I was trained as a birth doula, I provide prenatal and postpartum support, counseling, and the opportunity for my clients to become better informed on their birthing journey. The birth of my son was one that was transformational and beautiful and the care that I received is what I want for all pregnant people, especially Black women. 

My goal is quite simple; to be a support system and resource for pregnant people as they prepare to bring their little ones earthside, while providing compassionate care. I trained with The Doula Project as an abortion doula in June 2018 and with Carriage House Birth as a birth doula in November 2018. Outside of my birth work, I work for a mental health tech company. 

There is so much to learn in the 10 months before the arrival of your little one. I look forward to being your personal concierge as you prepare for the birth of your child. 

Fun facts about me: I was born and raised in Brooklyn (but live in The BX now), my first language was Haitian-Kreyol, I am super proud to be Haitian and hella proud to be Black. My ultimate goal is to become a midwife so keep an eye out for me in these midwifery streets!
