About the Provider
I'm a wife, a mother and a New York native who hails from Brooklyn. I have a strong belief in supporting new and transitioning parents. After having my first child, in 2003, I became totally committed to finding support for myself and anyone else venturing into parenthood. As a breastfeeding mother, I soon realized the importance of great support for breastfeeding/lactating parents. Shortly after I began training and working as a postpartum doula. Helping new parents navigate the waters of parenting a newborn became my passion.
In 2007 I trained and became a Birth Assistant/Midwife Assistant and worked as an assistant at the Brooklyn Birthing Center for many years; I later assisted with home births as well, which I continue to do today. I became a Certified Lactation Counselor in 2012.
I taught Newborn Care classes with Tribeca Parenting. I also facilitated Breastfeeding Drop-In support groups for them as well. Later I taught private and group Newborn Care classes and still do.
I have been offering labor support for many years. I have over 15 years of experience. I have attended well over 400 births, as a birth assistant and labor support person. I've also supported many new families offering postpartum or Lactation support. From 2014 to 2016 I worked at a local Brooklyn hospital doing lactation work.
In recent years I have been working to bring awareness to the importance of doula support and the disparity in care within the black and brown community. I am Bk Doula and consider myself an advocate and educator and give help and support whenever I can.
In 2022, I will be working in the hospital setting again, doing lactation work, teaching and hoping to make a difference in the community.
