About the Provider
Greetings! I am a labor doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, homebirth midwife assistant, certified lactation counselor (CLC), maternal child health specialist, reproductive health advocate, and current midwifery student who serves women and girls in my community through workshop, ceremony and rites of passage. I have been in the field of reproductive health since 1999 when I became pregnant with my first child. I began training as a doula in 2001, started working as a homebirth midwifery assistant soon after, and have received multiple trainings and certifications from many organizations in various disciplines over the years. I have taught about women’s reproductive health including fertility challenges, womb ailments, pregnancy, positive parenting and more in women’s shelters, birthing centers, and for private clients.
I created the Earth’s Natural Touch: Birth Care & Beyond – Doulas Skills: Beyond the Basics Program to ensure that there were competent and racially/culturally diverse doulas and perinatal health advocates supporting families. Her team of doulas “The Dada Zuri” is well equipped to support families through their birthing journeys. I was awarded the Lem & June Birth Pro Award for Best Black Birth Professional Trainer 2020.
