About the Provider
I am an early childhood and family specialist, birth and postpartum doula and reproductive justice advocate and activist. I have been serving pregnant and postpartum women ever since I was 13 years old; my aunt was my first client. For 10 years I worked as a doula and child and family specialist for Columbia University Head Start Perinatal Support Program. In 2007 I founded, A Passion for New Beginnings and has been attending births in New York City and surrounding areas.
I am one of the doula consultants that helped launch the New York City Department of Health By My Side Birth Support Program in 2010. In 2018 I became the program coordinator. I was featured in the second episode of Romper Doula Diaries and the Huffington Post piece, “Why We Need More Black Doulas. Most recently I was featured in The New Yorker piece, “A Chaotic Week for Pregnant Women in New York. I am a certified lactation counselor and a DONA International certified birth doula. In my spare time you can find me on the dance floor dancing to kizomba, semba and afrobeats.
