About the Provider

The experience of growing your family offers access to a new, rich emotional landscape which can be transformative and can also present challenges to navigate together and individually. We often don't talk enough about how even good and wanted changes in life, such as the birth or adoption of a child, always bring with them loss of the former life and the former identity. It's normal for this experience to bring with it joy and tenderness as well as aching and uncertainty. Preparing for and getting to know a new child often brings up our own experiences of childhood, opportunities to better understand our own place in the world and what is meaningful to us, as well as an opening to understand more deeply our place among the generations of our family, our cultural heritage, and what family and our role in it means to us.

As a psychotherapist in private practice, I have had the honor of supporting individuals and families through this process, bearing witness to their stories and their process, and helping them navigate building their families and futures. I believe that therapeutic spaces and the therapist-client relationship were not invented by Freud, but are a practice that has gone by many names in many cultures since ancient times. While I am trained in and support “evidence based practices” I am also passionate about de-colonizing therapy and creating a therapeutic space which is culturally sensitive and informed.

I am passionate about supporting the emotional life of families and individuals prior to and after the transformative experience of birth or adoption. I am experienced in treating post- and ante-partum depression, anxiety, and psychosis.

I specialize in working with members of the South Asian diaspora, cross-cultural couples and families, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people in non-traditional relationship structures such as ethical non-monogamy.
