About the Provider
Hi! I’m Joíní- a Black, immigrant woman who was raised on the principle that education = a better socioeconomic status. Learning about Black Maternal Mortality has offered me a harsher different lens: my education will not protect me from being more than 7x more likely to die than my white counter part because of my race. I began to look for answers and delved in Midwifery led care and the role a doula plays.
After finishing undergrad, with a new found passion for Black and POC birthing people, I began my doula journey in 2019 at a private midwifery practice and started The Resting Garden in 2020.
I truly believe I am each client’s companion and this perspective will humbles me in how I show up for my clients. Birth is a sacred event and should be treated as such: reverence and undisturbed. I strive to empower clients to be prepared for labor and beyond through birth planning + private yoga & educational classes.
Come as you are: leave empowered as we witness life together.
