About the Provider
I have worked in the social services field since 1999 and began doula work in 2003 in order to help other families bring about precious life into the world. I desire to serve families in the urban community and overseas. I have volunteered overseas in Senegal, West Africa for the African Birth Collective and also in Brooklyn, NY at Dyekora Sumda Midwifery Services as a midwife assistant. I have also been employed as a Live-In Advisor to teenage mothers at PathWays PA, an organization that helps women, teens, children and families achieve economic independence and family well-being I completed my Master's in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family, particularly seeking to counsel families who have experienced trauma. And also earned a Graduate Certificate from Boston University within the Department of Public Health in Maternal and Infant Health. Grieved by the abuse of partners and children and the lack of value of the urban family; I seek to help and reemphasize the importance of the family unit because all parties are vital to the development of the urban community and family. I have served in various settings from the public health initiative based out of Boston University to a local women's group and workshops around the U.S. Each experience has reinforced my passion and calling. I believe the most impactful moment of a person's life is at the moment of conscious conception and that as birth worker, we have the opportunity to assist in helping those know their virtue, resources, and choices for themselves and their baby. I began my midwifery journey in 2016 and have apprenticed in Austin, TX and Strasburg, PA. I am currently continuing my midwifery training with an amazing midwife while studying independently to become a Certified Professional Midwife.
